If you are a business, chances are that you will have a web site. If you have a web site, you will have to deal with the Big Three (Google, Yahoo and MSN). One of the things you can do, and probably the best thing, is really focus on having great content. As location is to business, content is to a web site. (And by the way, it does not end with the Big Three - some people will not use them for their own reasons.)
If you want to be found on the first page of Google, for example, you will need fresh content from time to time. If you think you can stay on the first page of Google without a refresh, you will be sadly mistaken. Having a web site will require input on your part from time to time. Think of your business web site as a great tool. Use it wisely or lose your place.
Good content will also draw inbound links to your web site. This is a good thing. There are other things you can do. This is for later. Focus on content: build it and they will come!!
